Activities to Replace Summer 2020 Cancelled Events

When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade. When life gives you Covid-19, you make many adjustments in your life to help flatten the curve. Many of these adjustments include our upcoming summer 2020 plans including concerts, sports games, vacations, festivals, parades, and more. So how can you make the most out of summer, while the stay at home order and CDC guidelines are still in place? Here are some of my favorite at home activities that you can do just about anywhere, while maintaining a safe distance.

First, I am pretty sure we have all been doing this already, but streaming devices have been my life. When the weather is less than appealing, I hunker down in my comfy chair and blankets, and I watch shows and movies until I get hungry or tired. When this gets tiring or old, I grab a good book. Many authors have been releasing books, or when in doubt read an old classic. Stephanie Meyer is releasing a new book from Edward's perspective for all the millennials out there.
Concerts have been cancelled or rescheduled due to the virus, but do not fret. Some artists have been performing on Instagram Live or through Zoom meetings with their band. Taylor Swift's Live from Paris concert will be uploaded to Hulu and Disney+ for our at home concert series.

When the weather cooperates, sunbathing outside or taking a nap in my hammock are my go tos. Hey, why not watch one of those concerts while outside? It may not be the festival atmosphere you're use to, but it's still a good way to unwind!
Our favorite sports teams are starting their seasons back up, and although we cannot be in the stands, we can cheer from our family rooms while eating the same junk food snacks that cost an arm and a leg at a ballpark. No one will give you looks for cheering too loudly or giving your opinion to the referee who doesn't seem to listen to you.
A few more activities might include painting, coloring, puzzling, organizing everything, four-wheeling, socially distant hikes or picnics with friends, or playing Animal Crossing on the Nintendo Switch.

Whichever you choose to do, this summer might not be as we planned, but we can still make the best of it in the current situation. Hopefully some of these ideas inspire you to try something new or start something old.

Covid-19 Effects on Businesses Worldwide

Covid-19 has caused chaos all throughout the world since it first appeared in late 2019. Now, over five months later, there are lasting effects that the novel corona virus has caused. Not looking at the virus itself, the corona virus has caused many businesses to stop operations and some to close for good. What can we do to help support these businesses that are closing due to the stay at home order and the fact that they do not fall under the essential business market?

Some of the ways we can help is by supporting our local businesses. Small, family owned businesses are especially hurting during these trying times. They have had to cut staff, move to curbside only pickup, and reduce store hours and operations to follow proper CDC guidelines. One way my family is helping our local businesses, is by ordering dinner to go at least once a week from a local restaurant around us that remains open for curbside ordering. If everyone bought a meal from a local restaurant once a week, it would significantly help these businesses out. We can also continue to donate goods to our healthcare workers on the front line. Donating masks, cleaning products, meals, etc. are just some ideas of donations. We're all in this together, so let's make it count!
On a positive note, covid-19 has caused greenhouse gas emissions and CO2 emissions to decline greatly due to the shutdown of factories worldwide. Will this last? Probably not. We are already seeing an increase within different areas and countries with factories and large companies opening back up for production and business. Hopefully, the economy will bounce back, taking into account the proper precautions to help keep greenhouse emissions to a minimum.

My Summer at Rebecca Adele PR & Events

I can’t believe my internship at Rebecca PR & Events is coming to an end! It feels like it was just yesterday that I was walking into Becki’s colorful and fun office, being greeted by several cats and her beloved pup, Google.

I looked forward to the 45-minute drive to Solon every Monday and Wednesday because our workdays were upbeat and fun, filled with music, talking and the exchange of ideas. While I did have some experience in social media, I have never done any public relations or event planning. However, Becki made it easy to learn and explained everything I needed to know, while still giving me some room to be creative and think for myself.
My day-to-day tasks included writing blogs and press releases, producing and scheduling social media posts, and marketing for upcoming shows for Avant-Garde and Bump to Bows Shows! Working in a fast paced environment has definitely helped me to work harder and be more efficient and creative in my writing. Being able to see my work being used online was rewarding and made me confident that the work I was doing was relevant and important.
Working with Becki was such a rewarding and fun experience. She was constantly giving feedback and helping me to learn from my mistakes, which is what I was looking for in an internship. Hearing her success story about how she was able to get where she is today was very inspiring, and I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work for such a successful and experienced woman.  One of the most important things that she taught me is that you can do anything you want as long as you work for it and to not let anyone get in the way of your goals. Anyone who has the opportunity to work with Becki is very lucky because her kind and hard-working attitude is inspiring and surely motivating. I am so very appreciative for my experience at Rebecca Adele PR & Events and will use what I have learned for my future career in public relations!

Give Traffic to Your Site the Green Light with These Easy Tips!

You’ve done all the work to start up your own website but now you have to encourage people to actually visit your site! For many business owners, this can be one of the biggest challenges. Sitting back and hoping a few Facebook posts here and there brings enough attention to your site and business just isn’t enough; you need to take action!
Forbes agrees that one tip that can definitely get the attention of web browsers is to work on your headlines. A simple, straight to the point headline may get your point across, but without adding a catchy or memorable headline to an article or post, nobody is going to think twice about going to your site. On top of that, update and improve existing posts.

Visitors will get bored if they are reading through your website and suddenly all of the headlines and website content become dry and boring. Also, regardless of what your website niche is, connect with others in the same community who can lend a hand by mentioning you on their site or you can mention them on yours! There’s no shame in getting help from other professionals. You can even take the extra step to “friend” similar businesses or websites. Once you create that relationship, it opens up doors for them to feature you on their site(s) and you can do them the same favor. Look up what the other top 10 sites are that are in your area of expertise, and write an article or post about them. If you notice them, there’s a chance they may notice you back and give you the recognition you may need on their site. In return this can then cause their visitors to want to then visit your site!
When making blog posts, or any text on your site, it’s important to try and include every possible key word you can think of. That way, when people are using search engines to find businesses or websites that have what they are looking for, your site will most definitely pop up for them to explore. If people who visit your site decide to comment on your blog posts, try and interact with those comments. Respond, recommend and reach out. Being interactive with your users on your site is key to keeping yourself relevant and real to them. If you get enough reactions to a post, feel free to even write a follow up or a response blog post. This simple tip will really get your readers interested and begin keeping up with your site.
Don't forget to still use Facebook and Reddit! Try and increase your postings per week. Instead of just a few times a week, work on making it even a few times a day. In these posts, pay attention to sites you’re linking to or hashtags you are using, as these could all lead back to you and drive more interest and traffic to your site.

These may seem like self-explanatory or beginner tips, but that’s the point! These are simple, easy steps that any new website owner can use to get their business off the ground! So get out there and try some of these and watch your website flourish!
